The New Forest

Covering over 200 square miles of South East Hampshire, the New Forest is one of England's most picturesque and fascinating regions. From its founding as a royal hunting ground by William the Conquorer in 1079, its unique way of life has shaped its landscape making it a haven for wildlife.

About PodVisits

Welcome to PodVisits - an iPhone App which tell the stories of the New Forest in Hampshire - one of England's most beautiful natural environments.

Since its founding by William the Conquorer in 1079 the New Forest has had a fascinating history. It provided timber to build the Royal Navy's finest sailing ships and played vital role it played during two world wars.  But there is also evidence of Iron Age settlements.  This history is all around you when you visit the New Forest.

PodVisits tell you the stories behind some of the New Forest's most popular sights - like the picture postcard villages of Beaulieu, Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst.  Find out how the forest's unique landscape came to be a haven for wildlife and meet the famous New Forest ponies. 

There's a rich folklore in the New Forest - the PodVisits App tells some of the ghost stories, tales of dragon slayers and smugglers from through the centuries.

The PodVisits App is perfect if you are on a visit to the forest and want to discover the hidden stories you may not otherwise hear.  Alternatively, if you want a 'virtual' visit, download the PodVisits App to learn about this fascinating region from wherever you are in the world.
